Katie Kirkpatrick

I am a scientific illustrator and graphic artist who specializes in creative visual storytelling that fosters a deeper understanding of ourselves and our natural world. I firmly believe in the power of art and visualization to advance education around critical scientific issues.

For the Girguis Lab, I produce visuals to support lab members’ research in peer-reviewed journals, grant proposals, presentations, and educational materials.

Inspired by the intersection of expert scientific knowledge and exceptional art design, I studied Studio Art, Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, and Business at Rice University before obtaining specialized training through a Scientific Illustration Master’s in the Netherlands.

Outside of my work, I dance with multiple groups throughout Boston, spend time with my cat, and search for new foods to share with friends.
