Kyle Worcester Moore

I am a systems technician at the Girguis lab helping to create instruments that allow us to monitor the deep ocean through water chemistry and imaging. I’m excited by technologies that allow us to see and measure things beyond where humans can access and the kinds of discoveries that can unlock.

My background is in computer science and I appreciate when hardware and software can come together to make unique things possible. I’m currently focused on integrating systems for a new version of the In-Situ Mass Spectrometer - a Girguis lab instrument that allows directly measuring gases dissolved in seawater at depth. The ISMS can be used for studying a variety of things from hydrothermal vent plume composition to signatures of water masses from glaciers. I feel fortunate to be working alongside, learning from, and offering engineering support to the other scholars in the Girguis lab who are doing a diverse array of incredible research.

Outside of the lab I enjoy the arts, hiking, biking, climbing, and generally exploring our fascinating planet.
